Family

Steve has a wife and three children and lives in Yorkshire, UK.   

Interests

His interests outside of work are on spirituality.  What can be understood about this world we live in, what happens at death and afterwards.  His interests have lead him to study Christianity, Zen Buddhism, and study of the Upanishads.   

In addition to spiritual matters, Steve has a passion for coffee.  He has a home espresso machine and takes great interest in varying the weight of the coffee, weight of the espresso, pressure, and time of the shot.   He has had some limited experience on a professional machine at his favourite cafe in York.  He is on an unending pursuit good latte art.   

Steve enjoys hiking the peaks of Yorkshire, Cumbria and Scotland.  He has climbed the UK three peaks separately and he has climbed the Yorkshire three peaks sometimes on back-to-back.   He particularly likes Helvellyn mountain in the Lake District.  

Work 

He works as an academic at the University of Leeds, Leeds, UK.   He teaches mathematics and weather processes.  His research focuses on process and impacts relating to climate.  He has supervised fourteen students to achieve PhDs. 

Education

He has three degrees in physics, including a BSc from the University of Toronto and MSc and PhD degrees from Dalhousie University.
